The goal of the talks was to create a solid foundation for a Technology Security Initiative (TSI). This effort is envisioned to build up cooperation in sensitive and future technologies based on the India-US CET model. The TSI proposed by the two presidents is heavily inspired by these domains which are regeneration, Artificial Intelligence and quantum technologies, and telecommunications, showcasing the willingness of both nations to take the lead in technological development.
The meeting with David Lammy proves Great Britain’s commitment to the development of further cooperation within the framework of the British-Indian relations which involved India – an economically important subject of the modern globalized world. The UK Foreign Secretary underlined the need to realize the FTA negotiations which have been ongoing for quite some time now. It is believed that signing of the deal will pave the way to new avenues of export and import which will be in the interest of various sectors as well as the public in both countries.
This FTA was signed to lower tariffs and improve market access and trade in goods and services. Several sectors are expected such as technology, manufacturing, agriculture, and services to enhance cooperation and hence promote the economy. These barriers and complex regulations are going to be eliminated or reduced through the FTA hence providing a better ground for business competition.
Furthermore, the bilateral TSI is expected to enhance the relations while playing a critical role in increasing cooperation in the focal areas. Both developed nations attempt to sustain the level of innovation which is why the UK and China prioritize emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing. This also will enhance consolidation of the research institutions with the technology companies, and thus, the development of groundbreaking advancement.
Besides economic and technological cooperation, the visit also stressed the similarity of approaches and interests of India and Great Britain. Both of them support the democratization processes, stability, and sustainable development not only for their regions but for the whole world. The improvement of this strategic cooperation is believed to yield beneficial results in terms of stability in the region and peace in the world.
This visit shows that diplomacy is crucial in sustaining international relations. India and the UK are steadily heading to ink a comprehensive FTA and a roadmap for more technology ties thus their relations are set to be a standard reference for bilateral relations in the 21st century.
